Department of Transpertation. At this time information on this turbo is limited but from the name we can deduce a few things. Compressor Wheel: Inducer: 68mm Exducer: One performance shop has already released a dyno on a supra making wheel horse and torque at 37lbs of boost. When looking at the compressor wheel aero, one of the first things that you will notice is the difference in the number of wheels blades. The 67mm wheel is a 6 blade wheel while the 68mm wheel is a 7 blade wheel.
While some have speculated that the number of blades allows the compressor wheel to have more mechanical "grip" on the air moving the compressor map to the right at higher pressure ratio's, we don't really know the exact reasons as to why the engineers at Precision may have gone with a higher blade count on the wheel. What we do know is that it is working. The 68mm wheel is picking up significant power with just a 1mm difference in the inducer size of the wheel.
Both the and the compressor wheels are milled from aluminum that is forged in the shape of the wheel which aligns the grain structure with the wheel. This gives the wheel added strength which allows Precision Turbo to create a more aerodynamic design. Precision has also stated that they use point milling rather than flank milling which enables them to use a truly 3 dimensional blade shape rather than being confined to a ruled surface for the blade.

The Garrett engineers are asked many such questions regarding our water-cooled turbochargers. Why not just leave them off? The reality is that a water-cooled turbo can be damaged irreparably without proper water line setup. With a little background and some explanation of what water cooling really does for turbochargers, this Garrett white paper will hopefully convince a skeptic that the benefits provided by water-cooling are worth the small effort required to properly set it up.
Many turbochargers are designed without water cooling ports and are sufficiently cooled by air and the lubricating oil that flows through them. In order to meet durability targets defined by Garrett engineers during its development, it needs water flowing through it. If water is not plumbed correctly, this intense heat can potentially destroy the bearing system and the oil-sealing piston ring behind the turbine wheel. Water should flow through the center housing from right to left, or left to right.
The physical process of turbocharger water-cooling is an interesting one and works in a different way than what might seem obvious. Heat in the center housing is transferred to the water via conduction, like the cooling effect that occurs inside a typical water-cooled engine with a water jacket surrounding each cylinder and running through the cylinder head.
If the water running through a turbocharger is allowed to escape freely after absorbing heat, it will rise through the cooling system pulling cooler water into the turbocharger along with it. Turbo center housing shown in cutaway view, with water cavity blueoil cavity yellow. This damaging heat originates in the exhaust system.
During hard usage, high exhaust gas temperatures dump massive amounts of heat into the exhaust manifold, turbine housing, and turbine wheel. These components are designed to handle very high temperatures through careful design and materials selection. However, some of this stored heat will want to naturally make its way into the less heat tolerant center housing, bearing system and shaft of the turbocharger through conduction, since these components are all in contact with one another.
Once the engine is shut down, the oil flow stops and so does the exhaust gas flow through the turbine — but all of that heat stored by the exhaust manifold and turbine housing still remains. This heat must go somewhere.
A small amount of heat will be transferred to the surrounding air via radiation and convection, but the great majority will conduct from the turbine housing into the center housing since the center housing is at a lower temperature.Contact us to ensure you're getting the right part for your car at the absolute best pricing on earth! Two thumbs up for Maperformance! After talking to MAP and telling them what I have done to my engine they told me this was the perfect turbo for my car I was going to go with a bigger one but they told me that this BB was the best for my car for the best HP and faster spool time.

Do any quick search on the Internet and you will find that car forums are plagued with the question of "which turbo they should buy, and from what company? The answer is, whichever one you think would work best for your set-up.
The reality is that they all make great units. Each manufacturer stands behind their product and is really good about honoring returns for units that have failed. Each of the companies offers many turbo sizes, turbo housings, internal wastegates, just oil or water cooled, and journal and ball bearing versions. Knowing more about each company will probably help you more in your decision.
Lets take a quick look at the history of each company. You would have to assume Precision as a company knew what they were doing. Garrett then cut off precision as a supplier. Precision then moves on to make there own CHRA center housings and continues to supply their own wheels and housings.
As one could assume with a new company there products suffered reliability problems at first. Failures were all over the place, and there is no shortage of stories on the internet about it. I would assume that once Garrett cut them off, they had to bring products to the market faster than they really should have. Also it was there first time making the inner guts of a turbocharger.
I am talking about the CHRA center with its shaft, bearings, cooling channels, and seals. Enter the era.

What changed? Who knows for sure, but its safe to say that they found a good supplier, or started doing more quality control testing before shipping out units. I would not hesitate to purchase a precision turbo now.
They hold over records and are making horsepower numbers at high boost pressures that have never been seen before. While some still claim that precision is suffering from reliability problems one needs to remember that people are not buying a precision turbo to be gentle on it. Most are run at insainly high pressure ratio's and shaft speeds and for them to last as long as they do is a testiment to their engineering.

Car is being setup for the TX mile, but will be a street car the other days of the year that there is no TX mile going on. If I can't make the twins fit the way I want to, then I will just go single Eh, a TC76 won't make shit for power.
You're going to need something like a GT47r. Or anything 88mm or bigger. Sounded like you were talking twins vs single. That makes mo sense. No complaints with either unit. The TC76 should flow a little more air on the compressor side obviously. I'd work with either the vendor or your engine builder to see which one is best for your setup. Works good and has wide window at mid to high pressure ratios Great wheel for a built motor with really really good set of heads. Hi man, ik everyone gets on me for following the compressor Maps.
They made us a comp map for that wheel so follow it. We're all guilty from time to time running the wheel past it's limits. You can push the wheel harder but you're running the wheel past its efficiency range! At that point you're just pushing hot air. As far as gains, they are minimal and stupid. There are better options. I'd personally check with Bison and see what he says. Lwilliam22 New Member.
